Dr. grad i Geoteknikk ved NTNU 1994.  Forsker ved SINTEF Geoteknikk frå 1994 til 2005 innan tema som på offshore geoteknikk, geotekstiler. Jobba som konsulent innan offshore geoteknikk 2005 -2011 i GeoPartner Marin as. Profesor i geoteknikk ved NTNU frå 2012.

Har ansvar for forskning på temaet fundamentering av offshore vindturbiner.
