Tribokorrosjon: Tribokorrosjon er et fenomen som produserer degradering av materialer av både slitasje og korrosjon angrep samtidig. Tribokorrosjon er en viktig industriell fenomen siden det dreier seg om et bredt spekter av bransjer (olje & gass, bilindustri, kjernekraft, fly, marine, mat, biomedisinske, osv.) og det kan få store konsekvenser for menneskers helse.
Overflate teknologi: Material nedbrytning på grunn av korrosjon, slitasje og utmattelse vanligvis starter ved overflaten. Overflate teknologi er en viktig teknologi for å øke levetiden på materialet i forhold til disse strukturelle mekanismer for nedbrytning. I tillegg overflate teknologi er en viktig teknologi for å legge til funksjonalitet til overflater og kombinere multifunksjonell overflater.
