Professor i hydrologi ved institutt for vann- og miljøteknikk. Foreleser hydrologi/vassressursdelen av BM2 Vann og miljø, grunnkurset i hydrologi og hydrologisk modellering. Ansvarleg for Teknostart innan vassfag. Forskningsinteressene dreiar seg hovudsakleg om miljøverknader av vassdragsutbyggingar, kaldklimahydrologi knytt til is i vassdrag og tema rundt modellering av hydrologi og vassressursar.

Forsking

My research is mainly has a focus on cold climate processes in rivers and lakes, environmental impacts of hydropower and applications of models in hydrology and water resources.

My work covers field measurements, data analysis and modelling.

Senter for fornybar energi (FME). Forskning på modellering av elver basert på fjernmålte data og kopling av dette mot fisk. Supervisor for Dr. Håkon Sundt.

Trygg Elv

The Trygg Elv project aims at defining critical points in rivers during floods using automatic methods. The project will develop tools that can be used to detect and prioritise critical areas during floods meant for planning and operational use.

River development through time

We aim at combining old aerial imagery to describe and understand the development of rivers over time.

Hydro Connect

This project will investigate if Norwegian hydropower can play a major role in climate change mitigation. My role is in the investigation of environmental impacts in reservoirs and rivers under various future development scenarios.

Research on river ice

Several projects focused on river ice formation, ice growth, river ice modelling and impacts of river ice.

Sagelva Research Catchment

Sagelva research catchment was established in 1973. There are two climate stations and three discharge stations in the 8 km2 catchment.

HydroFlex(2018-2022)

The goal of Hydroflex is to develop a turbine capable of multiple stops pr. day. My contribution was to evaluate downstream consequences and provide methods of mitigation of adverse effects of rapid flow changes on fish.

Klima 2050 (2015-2022)

Estimation of runoff from small catchments. Supervisor for Dr. Aynalem Tsegaw.

Review of Ice Effects on Hydropower Systems

Ice on reservoirs and in regulated river can be an issue for hydropower operation, and hydropower development will influence ice formation. This paper by Gebre et al. provides a thorough overview of ice effects related to hydropower systems.
