Knut Wold
Bakgrunn og aktiviteter
Knut Wold received the MSc degree (sivilingeniør) in electrical engineering in 1991 from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH). In 1992 he completed the USK-course (management training for soldiers) in the engineer corps in the Norwegian Army. In 2011 he received the degree PhD in Information Security from Gjøvik University College (GUC). The title of the PhD was “Security Properties of a Class of True Random Number Generators in Programmable Logic”.
In 1993 he started working as development engineer in the defense department in Siemens in Oslo. This department was sold out from Siemens a few years later and through various mergers and name changes this department became a part of Thales Norway AS. He worked at Thales with projects related to designing of tactical terminals and cryptology equipment before he started on his PhD in 2007. After completion of the PhD, he has been working at GUC as Associate Professor at Faculty of Technology, Economy and Management in the electrical section. Since 2014, he has been responsible for the electro study program at GUC (studieprogramansvarlig) and also worked as technical leader for the electro group at GUC.
His research interests are related to programmable devices and random number generators. He teaches undergraduate students in several courses in topics like electronics, signal processing, VHDL and control engineering.
