Amund Skavhaug
Om
Amund Skavhaug, født 1965, har jobbet med industrielle, innvevde og sanntids datasystemer siden studiedagene ved NTH på 80-tallet. Den indre drivkraften er å «Bidra til utvikling av andre mennesker, næringsliv og samfunnet generelt».
- Han stiller til valg til fakultetsstyret våren 2021 for å bidra til:
- bedre rekruttering til våre studier,
- bedre utnyttelse av arbeidet til våre fagpersoner,
- økt sammarbeide både innen institutt og mellom institutt,
- bedre kvalitet på den datatekniske undervisningen våre studenter får
Skavhaug har omfattende erfaring tidligere i fakultets- og institutts råd og styrer ved annet fakultet/institutt (ED/IE/IME/Kybernetik). Han har i tillegg i nyere tid bla jobbet i utvalg der for student-rekruttering generelt, digitalisering, IT-sikkerhet, samt IT-undervisning generelt.
Hans hovedfokus forskningsmessig nå er muligheter og utfordringer innen Industri 4.0 sammen med 5G og Industriell IoT. Her er det mange muligheter for synergieffekter. Han bygger for tiden sammen med bla Telenor og en rekke andre industriaktører opp en lokal industriell 5G lab (egne tilgangspunkter, privat nett) som en først i norge, lokalisert i Manulab - verkstedsteknisk.
Undervisningsmessig er oppgradering av studiene for IV-fakultetets studenter generelt et hjertebarn. Han underviser flere forskjellige mekatronikk og industriell datafag. Her er oppbygging av "laboratorier i en koffert" for hver student slik at teoriøvingene innen "data" og "elektronikk" kan byttes ut med ukentlige praktiske øvinger der studentene benytter hver sine sett med Raspberry PI m. ekstra utstyr, Arduino sett med diverse sensorer og motorer samt klassesett i store antall med PLS'er med minifabrikker, kofferter med kombinert elektro-lab utrustning mm.
En målsetting undervisningsmessig er bedre koordinering av forskjellige fag slik at de både bygger bedre på hverandre og er ortogonale slik at utbyttet er best mulig, samt at man unngår paralell undervisning der dette ikke er strengt tatt nødvendig.
Skavhaugs tese: "Utnytt det vi har best mulig, så unngår vi som faglærere unødvendig dobbeltarbeide!"
Han har i det siste tiåret arbeidet både akademisk og industrielt med Industrielle nettverk, IIoT, 5G, «Remote Presence» systemer, særlig mot vind-energi-bransjen, industrielle (trådløse) nettverkssystemer samt helse og trygghets-systemer i hjemmet.
Skavhaug startet som forsker i Sintef i 1996, senere som rådgiver og på prosjektbasis.
Han var ansatt som førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for Teknisk Kybernetikk, NTNU fra 1998-2016 med fagområde innvevde- og sanntids datasystemer. Der var han med som en av de første i «Grynderstart», forløperen til «Start» ved NTNU, og har siden deltatt i en rekke firmaetableringer. Bla Norsk Automatisering as (2009) og eMip as (2015), hvor han jobbet både fulltid og deltid som CEO/CTO.
Han har veiledet mer enn 10 Ph.d. og over 170 master-kandidater ved NTNU, og hatt ansvar for utvikling av og undervisning i titalls fag og laboratorier på master og Ph.d. nivå.
Han deltar/har deltatt i en rekke EU prosjekt, bla (nå) 5G-Solutions, (tidligere) TACLE (tidsanalyser basert på kode), R5-cop (robotikk og innvevde systemer), Leanwind (fjern-operasjon i vind-energi til havs) og Destination Rail (målinger på skinner og penser, trådløs overføring).
Han deltar/har deltatt/ledet en rekke prosjekter på nasjonalt og regionalt plan sammen med en rekke aktører innen forskningsinstitusjoner og næringsliv. Bla ledet NFR BIA EMIP (fjern-operasjon) 2013-1017, ledet en rekke NCEI prosjekter dervav «Rosetta Tranceiver», "Energihøsting" mfl.
Han var med å starte Nordisk råd prosjektet med KTH, DTU, Aalto og Lund, Nordic IIoT Hub der han er kontaktperson for NTNU nå, samt var med-søker og er nå NTNUs ansvarlige for vår del av EU prosjektet 5G-solutions.
Han har arbeidet deltid/fulltid i og hatt prosjekter for en rekke firma de siste 20 årene, bla Atmel, Sintef, Statoil, Siemens, Exercise, Rolls Royce mfl.
Han deltok, og ledet etter hvert StatoilHydros (sub)prosjekt på trådløs kommunikasjon i 2007-2008.
Han ledet det internasjonale European Space Agency (ESA) prosjektet «ISSN – Intelligent Satellite and Sensor Network» i 2013-2016
Skavhaug er svært aktiv i internasjonale organisasjoner og har bla vært General Sekretær/ Treasurer i Euromicro i en årrekke, co-chair i ERCIM arbeidsgruppen for pålitelige innvevde systemer, deltar i en rekke arbeidsgrupper innen EWICS TC7, og sitter i programkomiteer for en rekke internasjonale konferanser innen bla data SW, HW, nettverksteknologi og sikkerhet innen datasystemer. Han har arrangert/bidratt til å arrangere et stort antall konferanser og workshops internasjonalt. Nylig var han GC og PC ved, og arrangerte Safecomp 2016 i Trondheim. (www. Safecomp.org). Han arrangerer årlig workshop DECSoS (Dependable Embedded and Cyber-physical Systems and Systems-of-Systems), samt er i en rekke programkomiteer for flere konferanser, og xx-chair i flere årlig.
Skavhaug er sivilingeniør fra NTH og fikk sin doktorgrad i teknisk kybernetikk i 1997 ved NTNU, med avhandlingens tittel «A holistic approach to development of dependable industrial SCADA systems – With emphasis on cost effectiveness».
Han har siden 2016 vært professor i innvevde datasystemer innen mekatronikk ved MTP – NTNU.
