Bakgrunn og aktiviteter
Forskning
Jeg interesserer meg for evolusjon, biosystematikk og biogeografi, spesielt til tovingefamilien fjærmygg (Diptera: Chironomidae). Forskningsfokuset er rettet mot taksonomi, biologi, fylogeni, zoogeografi og molekylærsystematikk til tribus Tanytarsini, men omfatter også andre artsgrupper av både planter og dyr. Blant annet bjørnedyr gjennom prosjektet Bjørnedyr i norske skoger.
De siste årene har jeg arbeidet mye med DNA-strekkoding og leder for tiden Norwegian Barcode of Life (NorBOL), et nettverk av 16 institusjoner i Norge med interesse for DNA-strekkoding. NorBOL er også nasjonal infrastruktur på DNA-strekkoding i Norge og ønsker å legge til rette for prosjekter som bruker referansebiblioteket i anvendte problemstillinger. Et slikt prosjekt er Environmental Barcoding of Aquatic Invertebrates (EBAI).
Undervisning
De siste årene har jeg undervist på kursene BI1002 (Faunistikk og floristikk i norske økosystemer), BI2001 (Biogeografi og biosystematikk) og BI8002 (Avanserte metoder i bioystematikk) ved Institutt for Biologi ved NTNU.
