Bakgrunn og aktiviteter
MR Cancer gruppen studerer funksjonelle og metabolske egenskaper i kreft ved hjelp av magnetisk resonans (MR) avbildning og spektroskopi. Ved å utvikle, anvende og optimalisere MR metodikk (i kombinasjon med andre molekylære metoder) for å karakterisere sykdom, er vårt mål å etablere bedre diagnostiske metoder som har prognostisk verdi (i.e. etablerere og validere biomarkører), og som kan stratifisere pasienter til riktig behandling. Våre to største fokusområder er brystkreft og prostatakreft, og vi jobber med vevsprøver og biofluids fra store biobanker, prekliniske dyremodeller og kliniske pasientstudier. I tillegg driver gruppen utstrakt biomedisinsk forskning basert på MR-metodikk i bred forstand; vi er involvert i flere studier med problemstillinger knyttet til hjerte-karsykdom, svangerskapsforgiftning og utprøving av nye kontrastmidler.
