Doktorgrad i geografi fra NTNU (2007). Tittel på avhandling: Deforestation and Conservation in Madagascar. Dominating discourses and local realities.
Faglige interesser: miljø, klimaendringer, avskoging, utdanning for bærekaftig utvikling, globalt medborgerskap, samfunnsfagdidaktikk og inkludering av urfolk/marginaliserte grupper i utdanning. Har jobbet mye med forskning og akademisk samarbeid (inkl. studentutveksling) i sør-østlige Afrika (Tanzania, Madagaskar, Namibia, Zambia, Sør Afrika).
