Faglig innhold

The course develops the students´ understanding and knowledge regarding digital transformation within the organization.

Key contents are:

  • Understand how companies plan and implement digital transformation.
  • Research and case studies on the digitalization process
  • Academic research on business models, organizational capabilities, and implications of the digital transformation
  • Tools and insights into how to develop the ecosystem and create customer value to implement digital strategy

Key topics include:

  • Understand digital transformation and digital strategy
  • Business model innovation
  • Agile project management
  • Digital transformation and customer value creation

Completion of the course will enable students to:

Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge about how companies plan and implement digital transformation.
  • Wide insight into the key concepts related to business models, organizational capabilities, and implications of digital transformation.

Skills:

  • Can participate in the planning and execution of digital transformation in organizations.
  • Can cooperate with customers for the value creation.
  • Be able to understand and analyze different issues related to digital transformation in organizations
  • Able to apply tools and insights to implement digital strategy.

  • Can identify areas of risk and opportunity in digital transformations
  • Can identify the reasons why many companies resist digital change and what you can do to overcome that resistance
  • Can leverage system thinking about digital transformation in an organization.

The course will consist of a combination of lectures, group work, case discussions and student presentations.

Mer om vurdering

The course evaluation is two-fold.

First, compulsory assignments are to be delivered and approved during the semester before the final group assignment is submitted.

The group assignment contains a written assignment and a presentation, which together count for 100 % of the course evaluation and have to be written by a group of students (in special circumstances individually).

More information will be given at the start of the semester.

Following the language of instruction, the exam must be answered in English

New assessment if not passed, see supplementary rules at the Faculty of Economics.

In the case of a re-sit exam and the last exam after the course has been discontinued, the form of assessment may be changed to an oral exam

The course is only available to students admitted to a study programme under "special conditions".
