Widar Weizhi Wang er en senior forsker ved Institutt for bygg- og miljøteknikk ved Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet. Hans forskning fokuserer på numerisk modellering og modellutvikling for marin hydrodynamikk innen marinteknikk, kystteknikk og miljøteknikk. Hans Han har vært aktivt involvert i den numeriske modellkoblingen, metocean nedskaleringsprosedyren NORA-SARAH og den banebrytende nye hydrodynamiske modellen REEF3D::NFLOW.

Han oppnådde sin doktorgrad fra Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet med avhandlingen 'Large-scale phase-resolved wave modelling for the Norwegian coast'. I løpet av doktorgraden utforsket han forskjellige bølgemodeller for E39 kystvei ferjefritt-fjordkryssing prosjekt og deltok i utviklingen av to numeriske bølgemodeller: den kvadratiske non-hydrostatiske gruntvannsmodellen REEF3D :: SFLOW og den helt non-lineære potensiell modell REEF3D :: FNPF i opensource hydrodynamisk rammeverk REEF3D. Før doktorgraden mottok han mastergrad i marinteknikk fra Chalmers Tekniske Høgskolen i Sverige.
