Katharina Zürbes

Katharina is currently employed as a PhD candidate at the Department of Chemical Engineering at NTNU. She is working on the Nano-Syn-Sens project to develop a high throughput synthesis of non-spherical plasmonic nanoparticles for applications in endotoxin sensing. Within the project she is mainly working on shape control, as well as kinetics for the growth of anisotropic gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). Her supervisors are Sulalit Bandyopadhyay (IKP) and John De Mello (IKJ).
She pursued her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry at the Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden). During her Master's thesis she focused her work on the development of a protocol for functionalisation of polymer nanostructures for cell studies at the Department of Physics at NTNU.
