Johan Fredrik Rye (b. 1971) is Professor at the Department of Sociology and Political Science at NTNU in Trondheim since 2008. He is author of more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Acta Sociologica, European Urban and Regional Studies, Journal of Rural Studies, Landscape Research, Mobilities and Young, and has also published several book chapters and other scientific publications. He has previously served as co-editor of Journal of Sociology (Norway) and as member of the editorial board of Tidsskrift for ungdomsforskning, and he has acted as external reviewer for more than than 40 peer reviewed journals. Rye has had several visiting appointments at University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of California Berkeley.
