Elisabeth Egholm Jacobsen
Om
Mitt forskningsområde er organisk kjemi, der målet er å syntetisere biologisk aktive molekyler. Enzymer brukes som katalysatorer for å syntetisere enantiomert rene biologisk aktive forbindelser ved kinetisk oppløsning av racemiske forbindelser eller asymmetrisk syntese av prokirale stoffer. Flere masterstudenter jobber nå med kjemoenzymatisk syntese av enantiomert rene stoffer.
Etter 11 års ansettelse som analysekjemiker og kvalitetsleder i Lilleborg fabrikker i hjembyen min Kristiansund, har jeg Cand. Mag. og Cand. Scient. (masterstudier) fra NTNU i 1994. Jeg tok en mastergrad i bioteknologi ved Institutt for kjemi i september 1999 og forsvarte doktorgraden i organisk kjemi ved samme institutt i mai 2004. Jeg ble da ansatt som senioringeniør ved instituttet, og fra 2005 som førsteamanuensis. Undervisningsemnene mine er generell kjemi, organisk kjemi, naturlig stoffkjemi og spektroskopiske metoder.
Nå underviser jeg i organisk kjemi for teknologistudentene og et avansert laboratoriekurs for organisk syntese for masterstudenter i organisk kjemi.
Biokatalyse i organisk kjemi og naturstoffkjemi samt asymmetrisk syntese tilbys som guidet selvstudium til masterstudenter som ønsker å ta disse spesialemnene.
Jeg er prosjektleder for et EU-prosjekt kalt GreenCAM; Grønn kjemi for avanserte materialer i samarbeid med University of Bucharesti, Romania. Kolleger ved Institutt for kjemisk prosessteknologi deltar også i dette prosjektet. Jeg har værtinvolvert i flere EU-finansierte samarbeid, det siste var Systems Biocatalysis - som ble avsluttet i 2017. Jeg er medlem av Scientific Committee i European Society of Applied Biocatalysis (ESAB) og siden 2023 er jeg kasserer i styret i samme organisasjon. Jeg er i advisory board i flere konferanseserier innen mitt felt.
