Forsknings fokus

Hovedmål i forskningsaktiviteten:

  • Å utvikle metoder som kan anvendes i klinisk forskning som ligger innenfor fakultetets interesse rammer
  • Å utvikle kliniske modeller som kan brukes til å undersøke potensielle mekanismer som er viktige i forebygging og behandling av kardiovaskulær sykdom
  • Interesse området er trening som rehabilitering og forebygging av individer som er i risiko for å utvikle kardiovaskulær sykdom
  • Forsknings objektene er pasienter med metabolsk syndrom, Type 1 og 2 diabetes, svangerskapsdiabetes, overvektige. Vi ser på alt fra foster til voksne individer
  • De metodene vi bruker inkluderer moderne ultralyd teknikker der vi kan undersøke blodårefunksjon og hjertefunksjon hos barn/voksne og hjerte funksjon hos foster. I tillegg bruker vi metoder der vi kan se på skjelettmuskel funksjon (kalsium regulering og mitokondriefunksjon i muskelcelle), og standardiserte biokjemiske og molekylære biologiske metoder (som for eksempel microarray analyser)
