My research interest is in industrial organization, regulation and competition in energy and resource markets applying mainly empirical methods. I am active in the research centers FME Mozees and FME NTRANS and am the Director of Research within the 'Energy Transition Initiative' at NTNU. In addition, I have served (and continue to serve) as reviewer for the NRC, Academy of Finland, DFG, Humboldt Foundation, and several peer-reviewed journals. As an economist by training I received my PhD from Technische Universïtät Dresden (Germany) and held professorships in Potsdam, Chemnitz and NHH Bergen before joining NTNU as full professor.
Forskning
Rally to the Valley: Establishing Hydrogen Value Chains for the Nordics
In this project, partners from research and industry from Denmark, Finland, and Norway develop a joint pathway for a hydrogen value chain for 2030, 2040, and 2050 in the Nordics with a particular focus on the role of the maritime sector.
Nordic Network on Energy System Integration and Sustainable Transport
The project focuses on the energy transition, transport modeling, energy market modeling, and the coupling thereof. It brings together world-class education and research groups from higher education institutions from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
POTENT: Ports as Energy Transition Hubs
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network aims to understand how ports can support and accelerate Europe’s clean energy transition.
