Privacy in a digital world

This village explores the theme of personal data privacy and cybersecurity. Students reflect on their personal online experiences with privacy breaches and discuss how these moments raised awareness about digital privacy risks. Combining perspectives from diverse academic disciplines, they analyze real cases, track how responses have evolved, and present current real-world applications. This project promotes digital literacy, critical thinking, and understanding their role in a safe digital society. In today’s connected world, understanding and protecting personal data is essential not only for individual safety but for building a more secure and informed society.

Relevant competency

This village focuses on the complex relationship between digital technologies, human behavior, and societal values, particularly in the context of privacy and cybersecurity. These challenges cannot be addressed from a single perspective, which is why the village welcomes students from diverse academic backgrounds. Valuable perspectives may come from fields such as computer science, engineering, law, social sciences, humanities, economics, health sciences, education, design, among others. As privacy and cybersecurity affect virtually every sector of society, students from different disciplines can contribute unique insights and learn from one another.

The most important requirement is an active interest in the topic and a motivation to explore how different disciplines can come together to better understand and respond to real world digital risks. No specific prior knowledge of cybersecurity is required. The groups will share their knowledge and personal experience in the topic and have freedom in defining a project, scope and approach that is tailored to the group’s specific competences.
