I am a PhD candidate in Science and Technology (STS), where I research the reimagination of sustainable hydropower development in Norway and Malaysia. The project is a cross-country comparative study of the understanding and practice of sustainability and justice in both countries. The research is part of the SusHydro project – Sustainable hydropower development and reservoir management as an enabler of the renewable energy transition and an accelerator to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
I have a Master's degree in public administration. My thesis compared the solar power and biodiesel policies in Malaysia utilising lobbying and public participation theoretical frameworks.
I was a journalist for 14 years before pursuing my master's degree and transiting into policy research for a government agency on water issues. Experiences and learnings from journalism, my postgraduate education, and policy analysis work enable me to reflect on stability and change in a system and the different perspectives in achieving a society-wide just transition.
