Olav Bjarte Fosso (1958) er professor ved Institutt for elkraftteknikk. siden 2002. Han har tidligere hatt stillinger som seniorforsker ( - 2002) og vitenskapelig rådgiver (2002 - 2013) ved SINTEF Energiforskning. Fosso har siv.ing og Dr.ing grad innen elkraftteknikk fra NTNU. Han var instituttleder ved institutt for elkrafteknikk fra 2009 - 2013. Han var leder for Tematisk satsingsområde på Energi ved NTNU fra september 2014 - september 2016. Forskningsaktivitetene omfatter planlegging i vannkraftbaserte systemer, analyse og optimalisering av kraftnett, integrasjon av fornybare energikilder samt smarte nett

- Internasjonalt: Deltatt i en rekke internasjonale arbeidsgrupper innenfor IEEE og CIGRE og har vært formann i CIGRE SC C5 Elektrisitetsmarkeder og regulering samt medlem i CIGRE Teknisk komite (2008 - 2014) og er nå utnevnt til "Honorary Member of CIGRE"
