Research

My research focuses on studying the ferroelecric domains walls which exhibit anomolous charge transport properties. Primarily, I am interested the hexagonal manganites, but other ferroelectrics such as lead germante and gadolynium molybdate are also of interest. Using a range of correlated microscopy techniques including Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and most importantly an Atom Probe Tomography (APT) instrument, the goal is to characterize the domain walls at the atomic level. Specifically, obtaining the chemical composition and the charge distribution surrounding the walls are the primary focus.

Background

Before my PhD position, I did my master's thesis at the TEM Gemini Centre here at NTNU, under the supervision of Professor Antonius T. J. van Helvoort, focusing on visualizing the ferroelectric domain structures of lead germante and erbium manganite by electron microscopy. The thesis was completed in June of 2019.
