Biografi
Filip Holik er førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for informasjonssikkerhet og kommunikasjonsteknologi (IIK) ved NTNU, hvor han leder forskning innen programmerbare datanettverk og cybersikkerhet for kritisk infrastruktur. Han fungerer også som æresforsker (Honorary Research Fellow) ved School of Computing Science ved University of Glasgow, hvor han bidrar til forskningsagendaene til Glasgow Cyber Defence Lab og Netlab (Networked Systems Research Laboratory).

Forskning og utdanning
Filip oppnådde sin MSc- og PhD-grad i elektroteknikk og informatikk fra University of Pardubice (Tsjekkia), med spesialisering innen Cisco-nettverk, OpenFlow-baserte programvaredefinerte nettverk (SDN) og cybersikkerhet for IoT. Hans forskningsinteresser fokuserer på eBPF-baserte programmerbare dataplan, emulering av digitale transformatorstasjoner, samt cybersikkerhet for kritisk infrastruktur og operasjonell teknologi (OT-nettverk).

Undervisning
Ved NTNU underviser Filip i emnene DCSG2001: Sammenkoblede nettverk og Nettverkssikkerhet. Han underviser også i et eksternt SDN-kurs ved University of Pardubice. I tillegg er han sertifisert Cisco Networking Academy-instruktør for CCNA-programmer og innehar sertifiseringene CCNA, CCNA Security og CCNP NetAcad, ved siden av bransjesertifiseringene CCNA og CCNP (Switch) (2013 – 2016).

Yrkeserfaring

  • 2026 – nåtid: Førsteamanuensis (fulltid), IIK / Networking Research Group, NTNU.
  • 2023 – 2026: Forsker (Research Associate), University of Glasgow. Fokuserte på eBPF-baserte fullt programmerbare dataplan og robusthet i kritisk infrastruktur, samtidig som han opprettholdt en deltidsstilling som førsteamanuensis ved NTNU.
  • 2020 – 2023: Postdoktor (Postdoctoral Research Fellow), NTNU. Utviklet en simulator for digitale transformatorstasjoner med emulert kommunikasjon, og ledet kurs i cybersikkerhet for yrkesaktive i Oslo.
  • 2018 – 2020: Førsteamanuensis (Assistant Professor), forskningssentret ved University of Pardubice. Ledet forskningsprosjekter på programvaredefinerte nettverk og AI-drevne applikasjoner innen cybersikkerhet.

ECoDiS - Engineering and Condition monitoring in Digital Substations

Digital Substation (DS) based on the standard IEC 61850 is rather new in Norway; one of the few pilot projects is Furuset substation owned by Statnett.

InterSecure - Security of supply in smartgrids with interacting digital systems

Development of methods for assessing, handling and limiting threats and vulnerabilities arising due to interactions between the SCADA system and other digital systems, in order to maintain the security of supply in smartgrids at a high level.

We propose an in-network eBPF-based programmable data plane solution which performs GOOSE encryption and decryption in–network.

Resilient Network Architecture with eBPF-based Programmability and Centralised Orchestration (IEEE INFOCOM, 2025)

We propose a resilient network architecture that extends the conventional SDN architecture by using eBPF to implement data plane programmability on network devices, converting them into centrally controlled programmable nodes.

Programmable Data Planes for Increased Digital Resilience in OT Networks (IEEE Communications Magazine, 2025)

We explore the suitability of programmable data planes and offload technologies for improved digital resilience in OT environments.

Network-Wide Service Deployment Using Centrally Orchestrated, eBPF-Based Programmable Dataplanes (EuCNC/6G Summit, 2025)

We propose the centralised control plane orchestration of eBPF-based programmable data plane devices. Our orchestrator uses eBPF programs instead of OpenFlow rules to perform packet processing and supports more complex code structures than P4.

Emulation of Digital Substations Communication for Cyber Security Awareness (Electronics, 2024)

We present the Smart Grid Simulator - SGSim - a tool for emulation of digital substation communication for cyber security awareness based on experiences from the case study.

Threat Modeling of a Smart Grid Secondary Substation (Electronics, 2022)

This article uses a Smart Grid Threat Modeling Template implementing the STRIDE model to create a threat model of a digital secondary substation and its communication with the control center.
