Alf Inge Wang
Om
Alf Inge Wang jobber som professor i spillteknologi på institutt for datateknologi og informatikk på NTNU, hvor han underviser spill+, spilltuvikling og programvarearkitektur. Hans forskningsinteresser inkluderer spillbasert læring, treningsspill, spillteknologi, Serious Games, læringsteknologi, programvarearkitektur, og systemutvikling. Wang har vunnet priser for Årets formidler 2021 på IE-fakultetet på NTNU og beste forelesning på NKUL 2013. I 2022, fikk Wang status som mertittert underviser ved NTNU. Professor Wang har også vært teknisk koordinator og ledet jurien for EduApp4Syria-prosjektet, hvor målet var å tilby høykvalitets morsmålsopplæringsapper for syriske barn som ikke har tilgang på skole.
Wangs forskning har resultert i over 147 internasjonale fagfellevurderte publikasjoner i bøker, journaler og proceedings. Videre har Wang vært oppfinner og medgründer i den spillbaserte læringsplattformen Kahoot!, som er en av verdens største og mest populære læringsplattformer. Wangs arbeid med Kahoot! har resultert i flere utmerkelser, inkludert Teknologibragden 2014, Innovator14 Innovation Prize, Prize of Honor at Days of the Web 2014, Best Online Educational Tools 2015 (by Noodle), Norwegian Startup of the Year (Nordic Startup Awards 2015), og 2015 EDTECH Winners. Kahoot! har også vunnet prisene Noodle Best Online Education Tool 2015, Norwegian Status of the Year (Nordic Startup Awards 2015), 2015 EDTECH 20 Winners, Oslo Innovation Award 2016, Hottest Education Startup 2017, Product or Service Edtech Award 2018, Gold 2023 Merit Awards for Technology in the education category og var i 2023 2023 rangert som nummer 3 kuleste merkevaren blant europeiske Millenials og Gen Z'ers i følge YPulse's brand data tracker (over Apple, Coke, TikTok, og Instagram).
Wang har også vært med å gründet treningsspillselskapet PlayPulse og selskapet Maenage som spillifiserte husarbeid.
Videre, har Wang funnet opp og være med å grunnlagt selskapet BitPet, som utvikler et lokasjonsbasert AR-spill for å motivere til økt fysisk og sosial aktivitet. BitPet fikk andreplass-prisen i myGalileoSolution-konkurransen, ble valgt ut til produkt lansering på Slush 2022 (1.8% akseptanserate), og har blitt "managed partner" med Niantic (utvkler av Pokémon Go).
Utenfor NTNU, komponerer og produserer Wang musikk for spill, inkludert for PlayPulse, BitPet og Kahoot!. Musikken Wang har komponert og produsert for Kahoot! inkluderer 26 sanger som har blitt streamet over 26 millioner ganger på Spotify. Den originale Kahoot! musikken har vært streamet over 15 millioner ganger på Spotify. Kahoot! musikken, som er kjent av svært mange over hele verden, er nå en del av Kahoot!-merkevaren og er "copyrighted" Kahoot!.
Forskning
I de første årene av hans karriere hadde Wang forskningsfokus på systemutvikling, programvarearkitektur og forbedring av utdanning i systemutvikling. Alf Inge Wang er en fremtredende forsker innen menneske-datamaskin-interaksjon (HCI), spilldesign og utdanning. 1. Spillbasert læring:
Wang har utført betydelig forskning på spillbasert læring, og utforsket hvordan videospill og interaktive simuleringer kan brukes som effektive pedagogiske verktøy. Han undersøker hvordan spilldesignprinsipper kan brukes for å skape engasjerende og motiverende læringsmiljøer.
2. Utdanningsteknologi:
Wangs forskning fordyper seg i integrering av pedagogisk teknologi i ulike læringskontekster. Dette inkluderer utvikling av interaktive systemer og verktøy som letter undervisning og læring, med sikte på å forbedre utdanningsresultater og studentengasjement.
3. Brukeropplevelse og interaksjonsdesign:
Arbeidet hans dekker også aspekter ved brukeropplevelse (UX) og interaksjonsdesign, med fokus på hvordan brukere samhandler med digitale systemer og designprinsippene som kan øke brukervennlighet og tilfredshet. Dette inkluderer å studere brukeratferd og preferanser i ulike interaktive miljøer.
