Om

I am currently a Senior Researcher in the CAG-IBD research group at the Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine (IKOM), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU, Norway. I obtained my Master’s degree in Infection and Immunity (2013) from University College London (UCL), UK, and completed my PhD in Mucosal Immunology at Kiel University, Germany, with a thesis focused on the role of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) in intestinal homeostasis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Following my PhD, I moved to Norway to join the CAG-IBD group at NTNU as a postdoctoral researcher, where I contributed to the establishment and development of patient-derived intestinal organoid platforms for studying epithelial biology and treatment responses in IBD.

In addition to my academic research experience, I worked at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Belgium as a Postdoctoral Scientist in pre-clinical toxicology, where I developed high-throughput drug testing workflows using intestinal organoids, high-content imaging, and transcriptomic profiling. My research trajectory spans immunology, mucosal biology, organoid technology development, and translational toxicology, shaped by experience across academic and industrial environments including NTNU, Yale School of Medicine, and Johnson & Johnson.

My current work focuses on advancing human intestinal epithelial models and high-throughput quantitative pipelines to address clinically relevant questions in inflammatory bowel disease.
