Erlend Magnus Viggen

Jeg er en fysiker, med akustikk som spesialitet. Jeg har vært borti mange tema i løpet av forskerkarrieren min, men hovedfokusene har vært fysikalsk akustikk og numerisk fysikk.
Jeg jobber nå som forsker ved Centre for Innovative Ultrasound Solutions. Hovedtemaet mitt er ikke-destruktiv testing med ultralyd i oljebrønner. Blant annet, jobber jeg med å anvende maskinlæringsteknikker for å trekke mer informasjon fra dataene som nåværende ultralydloggemetoder gir.
Jeg ble uteksaminert som PhD i 2014 fra akustikkgruppa ved Institutt for elektroniske systemer. Temaet mitt var lydutbredelse i lattice Boltzmann-simuleringer. Jeg er også medforfatter av Springer Graduate Texts in Physics-læreboka The lattice Boltzmann method: Principles and practice. I slutten av 2017 ble boka framheva av Springer som den femte mest nedlastede fysikkboka utgitt av Springer det året.
