I am an Associate Professor of Digitalisation, Information Technology and Societal Change in the Department of Sociology and Political Science. Previously, I worked at the University of Zurich, Switzerland where I also received my PhD.
My research focuses on online communication and the changing digital landscape. I study the extent to which digitalization offers new opportunity structures for the spread of phenomena such as disinformation, conspiracy narratives, and hate speech. I am interested in the effects of manipulative communication and ways to empower news users against such manipulation.
My research has been recognised with several awards such as the Jay Blumler Best Article Award 2021. I am currently on the editorial board of Digital Journalism and Human Communication Research.
