Jeg er stipendiat i statsvitenskap ved NTNU, og jobber på LEGACIES-prosjektet ledet av professor Charles Butcher.
Mitt doktorgradsprosjekt knytter arven etter historiske og førkoloniale stater sammen med variasjoner i moderne staters undertrykkelse og bruk av tvangsmakt. Jeg benytter en bred forståelse av undertrykkelse som omfatter institusjonene som muliggjør tvangsmakt, samt vedvarende og strukturell ulikhet, og målrettede massedrap. Med dette bidrar jeg til forståelsen av hvordan institusjoner vedvarer over tid og former også de «dårlige» (undertrykkende og repressive) institusjonene i moderne stater. Prosjektet benytter data fra LEGACIES-prosjektet og tilnærmingen er empirisk og kvantitativ med særlig vekt på hvordan historiske staters institusjoner fra fortiden påvirker nåtiden gjennom bruk av geografisk data på historiske staters (kontinuerlige) grenser.
