CV

My current research is focused on clay, MXenes and carbon nanostructures. I work in basic research (with the focus on the synthesis of the new low-dimensional materials and heterostructures and introduction of desired physical properties into these materials) as well as in applied research, targeting the CO2 capture as an example. I am interested in magnetic and transport properties of materials, and design and synthesis of new functional structures.

Previous  research was done in the field of magnetic nanoparticles (NPs), NP based systems and carbon materials (carbon nanotubes, graphene).

Publikasjoner

Naturally occurring 2D semiconductor with antiferromagnetic ground state

Vermiculite, a natural clay, yields ~1 nm 2D nanosheets with 3.3–3.9 eV band-gap and antiferromagnetic ground state. Abundant, non-toxic, and low-cost, it offers scalable potential for future electronic, spintronic, and photonic devices.

Large bandgap insulating superior clay nanosheets

We discovered that synthetic fluorohectorite clay has the largest band-gap among 2D materials up to date.

Anomalous Freezing of Low-Dimensional Water Confined in Graphene Nanowrinkles

We created nanospace for capturing of the water molecules below an atomically thin graphene membrane structured into a net of regular wrinkles with a lateral dimension of about 4 nm and discovered that water stays liquid down to app. 240 K.

The internal structure of magnetic nanoparticles determines the magnetic response

We showed that the magnetic response of single-domain magnetic nanoparticles is driven by their internal structure. NP crystallinity level is mirrored in the internal spin order which drives the specific magnetic response of the single-domain NPs.
