Astrid Espegren
Om
Astrid Espegren is a PhD candidate in Social Work at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, where she is a member of the Welfare and Migration research group.
Her PhD project focuses on quota refugees arriving in Norway with limited formal educational backgrounds, exploring how both the refugees themselves and service providers perceive their initial years in their new country. More broadly, the research examines the intersections between vulnerability and empowerment.
Espegren brings nearly 20 years of experience in refugee resettlement and migration policy, having worked at the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI), the Norwegian Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi), and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
She is expected to complete her dissertation in 2027.
