Faglig innhold
Relationship between physical activity and physical- and mental health, and mortality. Exercise in medicine. Promoting change at the individual and societal level. Physical activity and everyday life. Activity guidelines. Performance and health. Critical appraisal of evidence. Nature of evidence: epidemiology, laboratory research, qualitative studies. Physical activity and social inequality. Adverse impact of physical activity. Innovation and entrepreneurship in physical activity and health.

Knowledge
The candidate
- has knowledge about the nature of scientific evidence relevant for physical activity and health (epidemiology, clinical studies, laboratory-based research, qualitative methods)
- has advanced knowledge on how physical activity and inactivity affect health and disease across the lifespan
- has thorough knowledge about current strategies and approaches to increase physical activity, and their evidence base
- has in depth knowledge on how physical activity can be promoted at the individual and societal levels
- has knowledge on how exercise training principles can be used to improve health and performance
- has knowledge on how social inequities affect health and participation in physical activity

- can acquire and critically assess scientific evidence concerning the relationship between physical activity, health, disease, participation and performance

Mer om vurdering
Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Regular final examination is given in the autumn semester only.
All 4 assessment components must be passed in order to get a valid result. Students with legitimate leave of absence and students who receive the grade F (fail) on the written examination may take a re-sit examination in the spring semester. If few candidates, the re-sit examination may be conducted as an oral examination. Students who fail the course work components or want to improve their grade must retake the course work in the next teaching semester.

Physical Activity and Health (MSPAHE)
Forkunnskapskrav
Admission to the MSc in Physical Activity and Health. The course is compulsory for students admitted to the master's programme. Exchange students may be accepted after an individual evaluation.
Kursmateriell
