GEOG8516 builds on the masters course GEOG 3516. Candidates who did not study this subject should follow the lectures (internet-based) and study the readings for this course. Embedded in humanitarian action are a number of contentious issues regarding the relationships between political aims of donors and host governments and the people concerned. The course will stress the relationship between theory and practice and how to deal with operational dilemmas on the ground.
GEOG 8516 is a reading course and the riding list will be decided upon individually. The paper can be handed in, in either English or Norwegian.
Læringsutbytte
The course provides the candidates with high competence on the principles underpinning humanitarian aid and investigate how they are being realized in the field.
