When Cities Die
When Cities Die
And how to adapt
An australian framework for urban shrinkage
The global population is reaching its peak and will soon decline. As cities are built on an outdated trend of infinite growth, a new shift in urban planning will be needed, one focused not just on sustainable cities, but urban shrinkage.
This will be the new urban norm.
This thesis looks at creating a framework for how a city can decide which districts to shrink towards and which to shrink away from to maximise the quality of life of its citizens during this transition.
