Simulation-Based Analysis and Optimization of PV Performance in Complex Buildings

About the project

Validating Solar Energy Simulations with Measured Data: A Case Study of the ZEB Laboratory

Addressing the escalating challenge of climate change necessitates precise renewable energy solutions. Accurate prediction of Photovoltaic (PV) system performance is crucial for maximizing energy-yield, reducing emissions, and enhancing building energy self-sufficiency. This thesis investigates the accuracy of PV performance simulations and explores optimization strategies, using the ZEB Laboratory at NTNU Gløshaugen as a case study.

Simulations, employing tools like Rhino and Grasshopper, are utilized to model the PV system, analyse its performance accuracy, by comparing against measured data, and enhancing energy generation. The findings aim to contribute to more reliable PV system design and performance assessment in complex building environments.

The entire master's thesis will be available in the Norwegian Research Information Repository. A link will be provided once it is ready.
