RUBATO
RUBATO
Recomposing Oslo Concert Hall
Since the opening in 1977, the Oslo Philharmonic has sought to leave Oslo Concert Hall due to acoustical and functional shortcomings, as well as lack of urban presence.
Rather than replacing the building, this project investigates how the institution can respond to these challenges within its existing situation.
Through the concept of Rubato, the building is understood as a musical score open to reinterpretation.
By rebuilding the existing concert hall, restructuring the building for improved logistics and making use of the surrounding urban fabric, Oslo Concert Hall is recomposed for optimised acoustics, a more functional, integrated and publicly engaged institution with a stronger urban connection.
The entire master's thesis will be available in the Norwegian Research Information Repository. A link will be provided once it is ready.
