RISE

RISE is an architectural adaptation project that supports people in staying where they are, rather than becoming climate migrants. As sea levels rise and storms intensify, many Pacific communities face growing risk—with no legal protection under the current refugee framework.
RISE responds by working with a Fijian village to develop resilient, locally rooted architecture. Guided by traditional knowledge, the project embraces flexibility and uncertainty. It aims not just to build shelter, but to strengthen connections to land, culture, and community—so people can remain on their own terms.
