Om

Dr. Vijeta Sharma er en forsker innen Høyytelsesdatabehandling og kunstig intelligens (HPC-AI) med over 15 års erfaring innen forskning og utvikling i både industri og akademia. Hun har en mastergrad i datavitenskap og en doktorgrad i konvergensen av kunstig intelligens og høyytelsesdatabehandling (HPC), et område hvor hun fortsetter å bidra mye.

Før hun begynte ved NTNU, jobbet hun i 12 år ved Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology i India – en banebrytende forskningsorganisasjon bak Indias PARAM-serie med superdatamaskiner. I løpet av sin periode bidro hun til flere strategiske prosjekter for den indiske regjeringen, som spenner over helse, forsvar og National PARAM Supercomputing Facility (NPSF) under National Supercomputing Mission. Hun var sentral i å drive frem benchmarking og banebrytende forskning på AI-applikasjoner på PARAM Siddhi-AI, Indias raskeste og første AI-superdatamaskin.

Hennes banebrytende bidrag ga henne ASWAR-2020, en av Indias mest prestisjefylte forskningspriser fra Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, som anerkjenner hennes nyskapende doktorgradsforskning.

Ved NTNU er hun aktivt engasjert i forskning, undervisning og veiledning av bachelor- og masteroppgaver. Hun er dypt involvert i internasjonale samarbeid for forskning, workshops, konferanser og kunnskapsformidling. Hennes kjerneforskningsinteresser spenner over kunstig intelligens, datasyn (bilde- og videobehandling), menneskelig handlingsgjenkjenning, dyp læring, store synsmodeller (LVM), høyytelsesdatabehandling (HPC), innebygd AI og robotikk. Spesielt innen AI på HPC ligger hennes lidenskap i parallellisering av AI-modeller på tvers av akseleratorer som CPU, GPU og TPU – et sentralt tema i hennes forskningsarbeid.

Med sin ekspertise harhun a holdt over 40 inviterte foredrag på internasjonale plattformer. Hun er et aktivt medlem av Women in HPC. Utover teknologi er hun også anerkjent som en kvinnelig leder og mottaker av Global Women Leadership 2022-prisen, som hedrer hennes inspirerende bidrag for kvinner innen vitenskap og lederskap.
