Research:

My Ph.D. study is primarily concerned with experimental fluid dynamics and turbulence. It focuses on the effect of incoming turbulence on the structure of wall-bounded flows. The ultimate goal is to learn more about the turbulent boundary layer's interaction with freestream turbulence and how incoming turbulence can be exploited to modify boundary layer structures. Active grids, which consist of agitator wings that are propelled by stepper motors, are used to control the turbulence qualities of the incoming flow. The boundary layer subjected to the incoming turbulence is subsequently probed using measurement techniques such as particle image velocimetry (PIV), laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), hotwire annemometry, and laser doppler velocimetry (LDV).

This research is under the supervision of Professor R. Jason Hearst and funded by the Research Council of Norway - FRINATEK.
