Bakgrunn og aktiviteter

Deputy Head of Department for research

I teach and supervise students in human geography, including philosophy and history of geography and landscape studies.

My research addresses how people morally regulate and enact spaces and places through what they do - or not. I have used empirical material from e.g. the cultural heritage management sector, outdoor recreation, and agri-cultures in order to demonstrate the production and effects of different moral geographies.

I am currently leading a 4 year project on 'Climate change and natural hazards: the geography of community resilience in Norway' (funded by  Klimaforsk, the Research Council of Norway, NOK 9 mill, 2014-2018). My contribution focuses on the work of 'local knowledge' for hazard management and community resilience.
