Professor Emeritus at Department of  Information Security and Communication Technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)

Research background and interests

My research goes back to my MSc.thesis on routing algorithms for packet switched networks in 1972. After a Ph.D. period related to telephone subscriber traffic models and model parameter estimation by measurements, I participated in the Packet Satellite Program part of ARPAs Internet activities doing simulations and measurements on the CPODA protocol in the period 1977-79.

My recent research topic was “Adaptable Service Systems” with focus on capability-related adaptation. Capability-related adaptation is related to shortage of capabilities with appropriate logical functionality or overload or failure of capabilities leading to reduced performance. The research has been related to TAPAS architecture and platform (TAPAS = Telematics Architecture for Play-based Adaptable Systems).

Ph.D students graduated as a part of  TAPAS project are Mazen Shia MalekShanshan Jiang,   Paramai Supadulchai and Patcharee Thongtra. The final Ph.D. student Kornschnok (Peach) Dittawit graduated in 2016 with topic “Smart Grid Adaptable Home Energy Systems”.
