Dr. Akif Q. Khan
Dr. Khan er forsker ved Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU) med bistilling som førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for informasjonsteknologi ved OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University. Han har over 12 års erfaring innen informatikk og ingeniørfag, med kompetanse innen stordata, skybasert databehandling, maskinlæring og programvareutvikling. Han spesialiserer seg på å utvikle robuste, skalerbare og effektive løsninger for prosessering og analyse av store datasett, med særlig fokus på ytelse og kostnadsoptimalisering i skymiljøer.
Utdanning og forskning
Dr. Khan tok sin doktorgrad ved Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU). Hans forskning er sentrert rundt stordata-distribusjon i det kontinuerlige datamiljøet (computing continuum) og kostnadsoptimaliseringsmodeller for skytjenester. Han har utviklet nye rammeverk for optimalisering av lagrings-, nettverks- og beregningsressurser i skymiljøer. Sentrale bidrag inkluderer grafbaserte tilnærminger til kostnadsmodellering og -optimalisering i skyen, optimalisering av lagringsnivåer gjennom objektklassifisering, samt smarte strategier for dataplassering ved bruk av lagrings-som-en-tjeneste-modeller for stordata-pipelines. Hans arbeid utforsker også kunstig intelligens sin innvirkning på utdanning, inkludert forskning på den akademiske effekten av ChatGPT, basert på innsikt fra forskere, studenter og undervisere.
Undervisning
Dr. Khan underviser i emner knyttet til webutvikling og skybasert databehandling. Undervisningen hans gjenspeiler et engasjement for å utruste studenter med både teknisk kompetanse og bevissthet om tilgjengelighet og inkluderende designprinsipper.
