In association with The International PerFormativity Seminar: The “Performance Turn”

Morning session: 10:30-12:30 Theatre historiography in Norway

This session was conducted in Norwegian. A short account of the program:

1. Recent research on Norwegian theatre history
2. Plans for a seminar this autumn – "Theatre, archives, museums" – covering the following issues:

  • The archival situation in Norway/Scandinavia
  • Museums and artefacts, historic venues
  • Research in theatre and memory
  • Theatre as cultural history
  • Theatre history and historic theatres – dissemination

Main session: 13:30–15:00 Performativity and Historiography

13:30–14:15: Svein Gladsø: “Performativity and Historiography”
14:30–15:00: Discussion

Afternoon session: 15:15–17:00 Performativity, artistic practices and the public sphere in Norway 1750–1850

Discussion around a research project focusing on new perspectives on theatre and the public sphere in Norway in the 19th century with a preliminary title Art, Culture, Career: The Professionalization of Theatre, Dance and Music in the decades around 1800.
