A candidate who has completed his or her qualification should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

Knowledge:

  • The candidate can demonstrate advanced knowledge in the field of cyber and information security in general. The candidate is also familiar with the current state-of-the-art in the following fields of information security: digital forensics, malware analysis, risk management, cyber intelligence, intrusion detection, systems security and socio-technical systems analysis.
  • The candidate possesses thorough knowledge of the theory, best practices and methods in the field of information security and cyber incident handling.
  • The candidate can apply knowledge in new areas relevant to crime investigation and attack prevention.
  • The candidate possesses thorough knowledge of research methodology, needed to plan and carry out application and development projects in the field of information security.

Skills

Skills:

  • The candidate can analyze existing theories, methods and interpretations of theories as well as independently analyzing and solving theoretical and practical problems.
  • The candidate can use independently relevant methods in fact-finding and development. These methods include literature study, critical thinking, logical reasoning and performing methodologically sound experiments together with interpreting their results.
  • The candidate can perform critical analysis of different information sources and apply the results of that analysis in academic and practical reasoning, structuring and formulating theoretical and application-specific problems.
  • The candidate can demonstrate in practice acquiring systems thinking and adversarial thinking skills, as related to the ongoing developments in cyberspace
  • The candidate can carry out a plan of a specialization project under supervision.
  • The candidate can demonstrate ability to work efficiently in teams, collaborate with other specialists in the field of cyber and information security and take initiative in solving complex technical problems.
  • The candidate can complete an independent study and development project of moderate size under supervision (example: the master thesis), adhering to the current code of professional conduct and ethics in academic fieldwork.
  • In accordance with SDG8 - "Decent work & economic growth", the candidate can maintain a decent job position in the current time and long-term future
  • In accordance with SDG9 - "Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure", the candidate is capable of building and managing resilient digital infrastructures

  • The candidate can emerge with greater insight and confidence in the professional role.
  • The candidate can demonstrate capabilities to evaluate technological, ethical and societal aspects of his/her own work and assume responsibilities for ensuring positive influence of this work on the sustainable development of society.
  • The candidate can contribute to innovation and innovation processes.
  • The candidate will apply ideas and actions that help maintain the environment more sustainable, in accordance with the UN sustainability goals
