Freshwater tardigrades from Hopen, Svalbard (76°31'N)

Abstract

Seventeen species of Tardigrada were found in submerged mosses of 17 freshwater bodies from the SE part of the island of Hopen (Svalbard). Fourteen species are new records for Hopen; Pseudechiniscus islandicus was not previously reported from Svalbard. The most frequently and numerously encountered species were Isohypsibius granulifer, Hypsibius dujardini, Dactylobiotus dispar, Macrobiotus dianeae and Amphibolus weglarskae.
