WoVen International Conference Opening Concert: Che cosa son le donne…
10. April kl. 19:00 - 20:30
Che cosa son le donne… Arias from Eighteenth-Century Venice
Recital by Ann Hallenberg & TSO Baroque Ensemble
Join us for a unique opportunity to hear leading star of the Baroque stage Ann Hallenberg in the intimate setting of the Festsalen, Katedralskole, in a concert dedicated to the women of the Baroque with the TSO Baroque ensemble and CasalEmilio, led by Sigurd Imsen. Che cosa son le donne… will highlight recently recovered works written for women musicians –– virtuose of the operatic stage and of the Venetian ospedali –– by Vivaldi and his contemporaries, including compositions by Maddelena Laura Sirmen and a rediscovered aria ornamented with variations by Eighteenth-century star singer Faustina Bordoni. Che cosa son le donne… opens the International conference “Women, Opera and the Public Stage in Eighteenth-Century Venice” (11-13 April, NTNU).
Mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg has recorded more than 40 CDs and DVDs. She regularly appears in concert with major orchestras and onstage at major opera houses and festivals, including Milan’s La Scala, Venice’s La Fenice, the Salzuburg Festival, Opéra National Paris, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Oslo Philharmonic.
