DASET - Perceptions of Software Engineering Profession is a framework based on scientific investigations aimed at developing techniques and tools to combat gender stereotypes in IT. The aim is to introduce inclusive practices to the well-known agile framework and focusing on the well-being of each component of the software development team.

Gender equality in ICT presents both social and economic challenges. While companies in Europe and Norway struggle to recruit female talents to IT jobs, according to SSB and Euro stat, the number of women ICT experts in both Norway and the rest of Europe is only 20%.

The European Commission report Women active in the ICT sector concludes that including more women in the digital economy could create an annual GDP boost in the EU of EUR 9 billion. A diverse and inclusive workforce in SE brings forth a range of perspectives, drives innovation, improves performance, caters to diverse customer needs, mitigates biases, and positively impacts society. It is not only a matter of fairness and social justice but also a strategic advantage for organizations and a step towards building a more inclusive and equitable future.

Despite many efforts at International and European level to address the gender gap, in 2022, women accounted for 15.6% of the total number of persons employed in the EU with an ICT education, down 1.6 percentage points from 2016. The European Commission report Women active in the ICT sector provides arguments for the fact that including more women in the digital economy could create an annual GDP boost in the EU of EUR 9 billion. We provide tools to combat the gender gap in ICT.
