Abstract: I'll discuss uncertainties of predictions for extensive air showers (EAS) initiated by ultra high energy cosmic rays. In particular, I'll address the question whether certain puzzles regarding EAS experimental data can be resolved, based on current theoretical understanding and available accelerator data.
