Ocean Space Centre has been the name used on the building project at Marinteknisk senter. Now the Language Council of Norway orders that it should be given a Norwegian name. Everybody can give suggestions to the new name.

– Ocean Space Centre is important for the town, the students at NTNU and the world leading research environment in marine technology at NTNU and SINTEF. Good Norwegian names on the centre, the buildings and the campus are important for our identity. I hope that we get a lot of input from people who are engaged in this work, both from the local community and the employees, Olav Bolland, Dean at the Faculty of Engineering, and leader of the projects steering committee, says.

A name committee

NTNU and SINTEF have a name committee that will give the final suggestion to the names of the new centre and buildings at Tyholt. They will give their suggestion to rector at NTNU, who will formally decide the name.

Input on a new name can be given until April 21, 2022. The name committee can both choose between the incoming suggestions and give suggestions themselves.

The three best suggestions will be awarded with a gift card.
