NTRANS Årskonferanse 2025

Welcome to NTRANS' Annual Conference 2025
Electrification is the backbone of Norway’s energy transition.
But how far can we go before we reach the limits?
This year’s NTRANS Annual Conference brings together researchers, policymakers and industry leaders to explore how electrification is shaping Norway’s future energy system. The discussions will focus on how capacity, coordination and political priorities determine how far the transition can go, and what it takes to keep progress on track.
As the need for clean power grows, so do the tensions between ambition and reality. Grid bottlenecks, regional trade-offs and competing demands for energy are testing the limits of the system. The conference asks what we can learn from this moment, and how research and collaboration can help Norway balance growth, security and sustainability.
About the Event
Day 1 – Electrification: ambitions and realities
A full day of presentations, panels and discussions exploring Norway’s electrification strategy. Speakers from NVE, Statnett, Kystverket, SINTEF, Cicero and Glitre Nett share insights on capacity, coordination and competing needs, examining how electrification drives change across sectors and regions, and where the limits begin to show.
PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers from NTRANS present new findings and perspectives from their work, offering a glimpse into the next generation of energy transition research.
The day concludes with a political debate on the boundaries of electrification, featuring members of the Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment. Together, we ask: how far can Norway go before the grid, nature and politics set the pace for transition?
Day 2 – Communication, synthesis and collaboration
An interactive workshop day focused on reflection, synthesis and storytelling. Participants will work together across research areas to identify key insights, shape communication outputs and build shared understanding for the years ahead. The sessions will also explore how NTRANS research can better connect to policy, practice and public dialogue.
Day 2 offers space to collaborate, share ideas and develop short synthesis notes and communication pieces across sectors and themes such as electrification, transport and regional transitions. The goal is to link NTRANS results to upcoming arenas like Energy Transition Week and Arendalsuka 2026, and to strengthen the bridge between research and society.
