Energy Efficiency Retrofitting in Existing Residential Blocks in Norway: Evaluating Regulations, Support Schemes, and Regional Climate Variations
Norway is facing increasing pressure from the European Commission to ensure all buildings are zero-emission by 2050. Concurrently, the energy label remains a symbol of a building’s energy efficiency, despite variations between calculated and actual energy usage, and regional climate differences and future changes are not adequately considered.
Therefore, this thesis investigates the energy efficiency retrofitting of three residential blocks built under the Building Acts of 1949, 1969, and 1985, using advanced computational design software. It examines how regional climate variations affect energy upgrade plans for residential blocks in Norway and the possible implications for accessing subsidies.
