Artificial Intelligence and Digital Pathology in Cancer (AICAN)

We develop software and the use of AI based methods in digital pathology, focusing mainly on breast and lung cancer.

Precision Medicine in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

In CAG IBD, we apply omics, imaging and advanced molecular analyses on patient samples, and utilize patient-derived organoids for functional studies and personalized evaluation of drug responses.

Cancer Imaging and Multi-Omics Research Group

We use integrated multi-omics technologies to discover and validate biomarkers for aggressive prostate cancer and (PET)-MRI for detection of prostate cancer and recurrent disease.

Computational biomechanics and multiscale modeling of the mitral valve

We use high-fidelity finite element (FE) models to simulate and optimize surgical procedures, to tailor the surgery to each patient’s unique anatomy and physiology.

Molecular modeling on coarse-grained system

We use molecular modelling to reveal the mechanism of diffusion of nanoparticles through extracellular matrix, and study polyelectrolyte complexes.

Optimisation of radiotherapy

We use PET and MRI for image-guided radiotherapy, and AI-based approaches for image biomarker quantification and automated treatment delivery.

Precision oncology guided by computational modelling and patient-derived tumouroids

We use computational representations of cancer disease as well as functional testing of candidate therapies on patient-derived tumors cultivated.

ProtectHearts and HUNT AI for Heart Health

In ProtectHearts and HUNT AI, we aim to prevent disease by improving prediction of cardiovascular disease risk, particularly in women and younger individuals, through integrating genetics, proteomics, and phenomics in population biobanks.

Single cell immune profiling for personalization of immunotherapy in Multiple Myeloma

We use single-cell sequencing and bioinformatics to define immune profiles and discover predictive markers, enabling personalized immunotherapy in multiple myeloma.

Specific delivery of therapeutic agents to tumor and brain tissue

We use ultrasound and microbubbles to improve the delivery of therapeutic agents to solid tumors and to cross the blood brain barrier.

Synthesis of bioactive molecules

We use organic chemistry and molecular modelling to discover and develop bioactive molecules.

Ultra-high field (7 Tesla) MRI of the brain and spinal cord

We are improving methods for MRI of the brain and spinal cord using 7 Tesla MRI which offers enhanced image resolution and contrast compared to conventional clinical scanners, thereby facilitating development of imaging biomarkers.
