I measure shooting stars to study weather at the edge of space. More specifically, I use measurements of small shooting stars to look at the wind 100 km above us. Although this region is far away from where we live, understanding it is important as including it in weather models can improve long term weather forecasts for us here on the ground.

When people hear I do a PhD in physics they usually look very scared and tell me: 'That sounds complicated!'. I would like to show people that physics is not scary! You don't have to be a geek to enjoy physics. I would be happy to share my love for atmospheric physics and let people realize how wonderful the world around us is - and that we can understand it better using physics.
