OECDiLibrary – world statistics and much more

Do you wonder about how much renewable energy Norway produces? And how that compares with production in the rest of the world?

OECD statistics, accessible to you via NTNU library, helps finding the answer to this question and many other.

In the OECDiLibrary statistics module, you can find world statistics on many themes from gender equality in education to fisheries, employment or health status…

OECDiLibrary also provides access to numerous reports of interest for a wide range of disciplines, like the World Energy Outlook 2015, OECD Science, Technology and Industry Scoreboard 2015 and Education at a glance 2015, to name a few.

OECD iLibrary is the online library of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) featuring its books,  papers and OECD OECD statistics.

OECD iLibrary also contains content published by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), the OECD Development Centre, PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment), and the International Transport Forum (ITF).

OECD iLibrary presents all content so users can find – and cite – tables and databases as easily as articles or chapters in any available format: PDF, WEB, XLS, ActiveChart, DATA, ePUB, READ.

 To access OECDiLibrary datapages you have to be on the NTNU campus network or use VPN.

Access to AAPG Datapages

The library has online access to AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists). Contents include AAPG Bulletin, AAPG Special Volumes, Bulletin of Canadian Petroleum Geology, Gulf Coast Group (USA), Journal of Petroleum Geology, Journal of Sedimentary Research, Midcontinent Group (USA), Pacific & Asia Group, Rocky Mountain Group (USA) and Southwestern Group (USA).

If you prefer you can access the database through the library’s home page, http://www.ntnu.edu/ub, and get a alphabetic list of all of our databases (select database under the search box).

Knovel – interactive equations

When studying or working on your research you sometimes have to do calculations or look up a specific equation. Knovel interactive equations can help you as they provide an online notebook where you can look up and try out selected equations.

All of the equations come with citations to a published work in which versions of them are used.

To get an overview, take a look at knovel’s video where they present the current available equations. Try them out and do a calculation within your subject.

To get full access you will have to be connected to the network at NTNU (use VPN from outside).

Try OnePetro!

OnePetro is a full text database of technical documents and journal articles. It covers subjects like: oil, gas, energy, physics, geophysics and geology. The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) – operates OnePetro. Access to OnePetro is available to the general public, and full-text articles and technical content is provided to you by the NTNU University library.

Conference proceedings like OTC (Offshore Technology Conference) and ISOPE (International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference) are available in OnePetro.

Please note that searching in oria.no will not search OnePetro.  To get results from the database you must do a search directly in OnePetro or via Google Scholar

Access to Journal of Guidance Control and Dynamics

As of September 2015 you have access to Journal of Guidance Control and Dynamics    

( http://arc.aiaa.org/loi/jgcd ).

This journal is wanted especially by researchers from the IME faculty, but could be useful to all involved with:

“…dynamics, stability, guidance, control, navigation, optimization, electronics, avionics, and information processing related to aeronautical, astronautical, and marine systems.”

You can access both articles from 2015 and earlier issues as full text (pdf). The older issues will have to go through a control after one year to see if access could still be justified (due to statistical use). So if you want to keep it you should use it!

GEOFACETS a new database available for trial

Geofacets is a map-based research tool designed for geoscientists, that enables you to assess a region or basin’s geologic characteristics. 

You can discover maps by searching a geographical site or basin, but also by a conventional literature search.  The maps are downloadable, geo-referenced, and accompanied by meta data, article abstracts and links to original source articles – and also available as GeoTIFFs for easy integration with GIS and other software.
